DIVE CERTIFICATION
RESTORATION TRIP

To make our restoration dives more accessible, Care for Coral brings volunteers on certification dives. We have helped hundreds of volunteers get their open-water and advanced diving certifications! We ensure that our certification trips also incorporate coral restoration and elements of environmental conservation

CORAL PLANTING

Care For Coral experiments with different types of restoration methods on every trip. This time, PVC pipes and concrete were used to plant our coral polyps. PVC is used widely due to its simple and cost-effective design. The concrete base helps to stabilize the corals and the calcium bicarbonate in concrete is biologically friendly to coral growth.

RELEASING BYCATCH

Bycatch refers to marine species that are caught unintentionally by fishermen. Oftentimes, large trawl nets, longlines, or gill nets will accidentally catch juvenile species of turtles, sharks, rays, and other marine mammals. This has led to the death of thousands of key species. Hence, Care For Coral has collaborated with coastal fishermen and has helped in efforts to release bycatch back into the water.
